Iron Flow Shirt – Handwoven Kala Cotton, Naturally Dyed with Resist & Iron
The Iron Flow Shirt embodies the spirit of slow fashion, natural dyeing, and artisanal craftsmanship. Woven on traditional wooden looms by Mandam and his family, the organic Kala cotton has a distinct structure and breathability. Once woven, the fabric journeys to the nearby Ajrakh printing village, where artisans apply an intricate resist and iron dyeing process by hand.
First, a resist print outlines the lighter details of the pattern before iron dye is brushed on by hand. The dye seeps into the cotton, forming deep, organic hues that settle into the fibres. The fabric is then washed, boiled, and sun dried, allowing the dye to bond naturally. The result is a shirt with depth, movement, and a lived in richness that continues to evolve with wear. Finished with handmade coconut buttons, a straight cut hem, and an offset top button, it blends heritage craftsmanship with understated ease.
From seed to shirt, every step is intentional. The cotton is grown without GMOs or harmful pesticides, then hand printed, naturally dyed, washed in flowing water, and tailored in a small workshop where comfort and attention to detail come first. The thicker weave of this Kala cotton gives it a slightly more structured feel than lighter cottons, offering durability while staying breathable.
